Preparation of palladium (II) trifluoroacetate [Pd(TFA)2]

A 50 ml oven-dried flask was charged with Pd(OAc)2 (1.0 g, 4.46 mmol). 25 ml trifluoroacetatic acid
was added. The mixture was stirred and heated to reflux (at 90 °C) in an oil bath. A gray-brown solid
was formed as the mixture was heated. The solid was isolated by filtration and washed with
trifluoroacetic acid (ca. 10 ml). The residue was dried under vacuum at 40°C for 3 h offering a
brownish powder.
